Warbro Balder Pilsner Malt
Pale malt with a clean, yet malty aroma and some notes of sweetness. Excellent choice for most beer styles and in particular for traditional lager beer styles.This pilsner malt has been dried at a low temperature to retain a low colour and high enzymatic power. Old varieties of heritage barley like Balder might have a slightly lower extract yield than what can be expected from a modern barley variety. Often this is compensated for in flavour complexity and other favorable properties.
Balder is a classic heritage barley with roots in Swedish 19th century breeding programs. The barley variety was highly appreciated as brew malt during the 1940's and 1950's and was also exported from Sweden to a number of Northern European countries. Warbro Kvarn is malting Balder which has been organically grown at farms near the malt house.
