About Mr. Malt
We have been around for over 30 years and were started as a family business in 1992 by Eva Fahleson Ekelin and Svante Ekelin. Our business concept is to provide good raw materials, equipment and literature, and good service, for homebrewers and breweries.The company was originally called Humlegårdens Ekolager and got its name from Humlegården in Ekskogen, Vallentuna, where the local hops were once grown. That is where we started the business and ran it for the first seventeen years. Since August 2025, we have been called Mr. Malt, together with our sister companies in Italy, Spain, Denmark, Finland and Norway.
Mr. Malt is a leader in its market with high-quality raw materials for both small-scale and large-scale brewers. Almost all medalists at the Swedish Home Brewing Championships since the start in 1989 are our customers. A number of these have gone on to start small professional breweries, and we also supply malt, hops and yeast to most of Sweden's breweries. Of course, we have the same high quality products for both professional brewers and home brewers - it's just the quantity that differs.
Since September 2020, the company has been part of the Caldic group.
Humlegårdens Ekolager AB is a member of the trade organisations Brewers Association, Svensk Handel, Svensk Digital Handel and ecommerce.org, as well as in the recycling organisations Förpacknings- och Tidningsinsamlingen and Svensk GlasÅtervinning.
We hold the highest credit rank, AAA, at Swedens leading credit rating agency Bisnode (previously Soliditet).
