Spalter Select is a classic aroma hop in German lagers. It is slighlty more intense in it's spice than regular Spalter in both flavor and aroma together with it's herbal notes.
Commonly used in German lager and altbier. Kölsch, Belgian and French ale.
Developed in Germany and released to growers during the 80's, Spalter Select is a close relative of the noble hops Spalter and Hallertau Mittelfrüher.
Aroma: Spicy and herbal.
Origin: Tyskland
Typical values:
Alpha acid (correct alpha value is printed on the package): 2 - 5 %
Cohumulone: 20 - 28 %
Total oils: 0,5 - 1,2 ml / 100 g
Storage stability (alpha acids): Good, 60-70% alpha acids remaining after 6 months at 20 °C
Possible replacements: Hersbrucker, Saaz, Tettnanger, Perle, Hallertauer Tradition
