Salt consisting of calcium and chloride ions. Calcium helps to stabilize the enzyme alpha amylase in the mash and lowers pH slightly. Also contributes to a clearer wort. Chloride acts as a flavor enhancer and can give beer a rounder mouthfeel. A ratio of chloride to sulfate of 2:1 or higher can make the beer's rounder, malty flavors dominate over bitterness and a drier mouthfeel.
1 g per 10 liters adds 27.8 mg / l Ca2+ and 49.2 mg / l Cl-
