Protafloc is a fining agent based on carrageenan (the active ingredient in Irish Moss). Protafloc is used in the same way as Irish Moss, but is both more efficient and more concentrated, and thus requires a lower dosage. Add 1.5 grams per 100 liters of wort, 15-20 minutes before the end of the wort boiling. This corresponds to 1 ml for 40 liters wort.
Despite the higher price per gram, Protafloc is more economical than Irish Moss due to the lower dosage needed. The smallest package lasts a regular home brewer several years (approximately 3000 liters of beer), while the larger packages are recommended for brew clubs and breweries.
Packaged in food grade re-sealable plastic can.
