Cabernet Sauvignon is the world's most famous grape for red wine. Wines made from this classic grape are typically full-bodied with pronounced tannins and acidity. Aromas include blackcurrant and cedar wood.
These wines are well suited for ageing.
Merlot is one of the classic grapes in the great wine region of Bordeaux, where it is most of all associated with the wines from St Emilion and Pomerol. Its popularity has increased in recent years, and Merlot is presently widely grown globally, especially in USA, Australia and Chile.

Languedoc, or Languedoc - Roussillon, is the world's largest wine district, and it accounts for about a third of France's wine production. It is located in the south of France, along the western part of the Mediterranean coast, from the Pyrenees on the Spanish border in the west to the river Rhône in the east. White, rosé and red wine are made from many different grape varieties, internationally famous varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as Rhône grapes such as Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Viognier. More local varieties such as Rousanne and Marsanne are also grown.
