Pinot Noir is the classic grape for red Burgundy wines, and perhaps second only to Cabernet Sauvignon the most famous grape for red wine. Usually it is lighter in colour and less tannic. It is often more fruity and enjoyable young, and develops earlier. However, the best Pinot Noir wines will develop for many years. Aromas are often reminiscent of cherries, raspberries or strawberries.
