Czech Pils is a pale lager with a mild maltiness and lots of hop bitterness and aroma. This beer style saw a rapid spread across the Globe following its genesis in 1842 in the city of Pilsen (Plzen). Also called Bohemian pale lager or světlý ležák.
The flavour profile is clean and balanced, with typical hop aroma from the Saaz hops, a slightly fruity fermentation profile and light honeylike malt notes in the background.
For best results the beer should be allowed to ferment cool (10 - 12 °C) preferably ending with a period of cold lagering.
You can choose between a liquid yeast or dry yeast for this recipe kit. Both strains are well suited for the style, but if you choose the liquid yeast please be prepared to
make a Yeast Starter or buy an extra yeast pack.

For improved beer clarity, we recommend using finings in the wort boil.
Protafloc attracts haze-forming particles and settles out during chilling, making it easier to separate it from the clear wort. This results in a beer with less haze.
Pale beer styles may benefit from some treatment of the brewing water. Typically, small amounts of
lactic acid are added to the mash and sparge water. Normal dosage is 1 - 4 tsp per 20 liter.
