One of the first modern aroma hops from the US. It has a character similar to Cascade with a flowery aroma but the citrus notes are leaning more towards those of blood oranges.
Commonly used in IPA and APA. Also suited for Modern Lagers and Saisons.
Amarillo was not developed but discovered by Virgil Gamache Farms during the early days of the 90s. It was registered and launched in 2003 and quickly exploded in popularity across the world.
Aroma: Blood orange and grapefruit with notes of tropical fruit and flowers.
Origin: USA
Typical values:
Alpha acid (correct alpha value is printed on the package): 9 - 11 %
Cohumulone: 21 - 24 %
Total oils: 1,0 - 2,3 ml / 100 g
Storage stability (alpha acids): Excellent, 96% alpha acids remaining after 6 months at 20 °C
Possible replacements: Mosaic, Cascade, Galaxy.
